Regions

Negombo

On arrival in Sri Lanka, you will be met and assisted by our Airport Representative. Your very own driver will the bring you (and your group) to the fishing village of Negombo. After checking in to your hotel, you can relax and recover from your (potential) jet lag. If you have some spare time, your chauffeur will happily show you around Negombo, and its beaches and local sights. Enjoy a boat ride along the Dutch Canals, visit some Dutch churches, and then rest at your hotel.

Kitulgala

After breakfast, you will head to the small town of Kitulgala. This wondrous gift of nature is the place for trekking and white water rafting on the Kelani river.

Sandun Ella

We will leave for Sandun Ella waterfall, where you will enjoy a full day course of abseiling. Experience the waterfall hanging securely from your ropes, and be amazed by the stunning surroundings. Afterwards, you go for a nice hike along the river. At the end of the day, you are free to rest at the campsite.

Sinharaja

After breakfast, we will head to the amazing Sinharaja rain forest. It is home to many endemic medicinal plants, birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles. You will spend several hours here, hiking through the jungle, bird watching, and seeing local sites.

After breakfast, we will again head to the Sinharaja Nature Reserve. One of its major attractions are the so called ‘feeding flocks’. These large groups of birds bring life (and noise!) to the otherwise quite silent jungle. There are many endemic bird species to be seen, including the Red-Faced Malkoha, Sri Lanka Blue Magpie, Ash-Headed Babbler, White-Headed Starling, and the Green-Billed Coucal, which is one the rarest birds of Sri Lanka.

Udawalawe

The area of Udawalawe is teaming with wildlife. The Walawe river runs through the jungle, and herds of wild elephants are a guaranteed sight along its banks. Greater Flamingo, Grey Heron, Sandpipers, Jacana, Painted Stork, Black Necked Stork, and various Parakeets are among the many birds you will see here.

Nuwaraeliya

We will be on our way to the heart of the Sri Lankan tea production region: Nuwara Eliya. It is sometimes called ‘Little England’. Spend the rest of your day in this beautiful area, and enjoy all the spectacles around the city, including St. Clair’s waterfall and Devon waterfalls.

Dambulla

After an early breakfast, your driver will help you check out of your hotel and you will leave for Dambulla. A world heritage site, Dambulla is the largest remaining cave temple in Sri Lanka, built on a 600 feet high rock. In prehistoric times, before the arrival of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, these caves were used as a dwelling place and there are about 80 of them in the area.

Sigiriya

Today’s journey continues to the citadel of Sigiriya. The citadel was built by King Kashyapa in the 5 th century. The entire city complex is protected by a deep moat. Many explorers visited the citadel in the 6 th century, and they recorded its beauty, the abundant Sigiriya fresco’s, and the impressive Ketapath Pawura (Mirror Wall). Sigiriya is the most visited site in Sri Lanka, and rightly so. It is surrounded by the remains of a city complex, with gardens, defensive structures, water reservoirs, and many buildings. Even in the rainy season, the water gardens are stunning and overwhelming, with their beautiful fountains.

Colombo

Today you will have all the time to explore the capital of Sri Lanka: Colombo. Head into town for some shopping or sightseeing. Grab a tuktuk and head out to the bustling area of Pettah. You can visit the National Museum there, or visit local markets to find a wide variety of local products and gifts. Take some of the various Sri Lankan cultures home with you, to remember your visit to our beautiful country.
